Grammar usage notes
koro ころ and kurai くらい can also be used for approximation related to time and I was reading on the difference (do correct me if I'm wrong).
Koro ころ is used for a specific point in time and not duration, while hodo ほど and kurai くらい can be used for a time range.
- Example: 3時ごろ vs 1時間ほど or 1時間ぐらい
While hodo ほど and kurai くらい can both be used for range,
- hodo ほど implies a clearer degree and is more polite thus more often used in writing or more formal settings.
- kurai くらい implies a rough estimate and is more casual.

Questions/Discussion
It seems odd that I haven’t seen an example for this point along the lines of “the more A, the less B.” They all seem to be “the more A, the more B.” This is especially when the latter half of the sentence ends in a negative. For example: 見るほど、見たくない I would translate as “the more I look the less I want to” but I’ve only seen translations like “the more I look the more I don’t want to.” They seem equivalent to me, so is it just chance no one has translated any like this?
