Has anyone had success with adjusting the mastery level spacing? I'm coming from Anki and am used to well studied words returning after months or even years, and in comparison the default renshuu settings are returning easy things much more often than I would like. But I'm also not a huge fan of just maxing out the level 9 value as I want to see them eventually, just not as frequently as the defaults.
Renshuu used fixed interval, so even if you changer the level spacing, it won't solve that problem.
To deal with the "easy terms", I usually just level them up until level 4 or 5 with the drop the mastery to 0 setting to keep the problematic/difficult terms. Then, from time to time, I just remove all the words past level 4 or 5.
It work well with me because I use it with immersion. If I encounter those words randomly and forgot about them in between, I add them my schedule again and restart from. Otherwise, I don't bother. Basically, immersion are my levels 6 +
That's one way to deal with "easy words". You could experiment with the interval but it won't be like Anki since the interval. On the other hand, the advantage of fixed interval is that difficult words won't bother you too much unlike anki. You don't have to decide whether a word is difficult or not and it also reduce the workload at the beginning (since every words are treated equally).
Because of that renshuu is more useful to quickly study a bunch of words. Like studying some words related to food & cooking until level 4 or 5, study some sentences after or at the same time and finally, just switch to immersion (reading some articles, watching some video, writing some sentences or talking to natives).
It's not as optimized as Anki but studying indefinitely with an SRS is also not really the best way to master words imo. SRS is good to put quickly words inside your head but once they are in your head, just use them, try to find them in context in order to solidify those words (and understand the nuances too).
Also, compared to Anki, the strengh of renshuu don't lie in the SRS but more in the different vectors, the quick access to the dictionary, the abilities to add new terms whenever you want, the list system, etc. You may not have the addons but at least for those things, you will find that more easy to do quickly. Without having to worry about an addon being suddendly abandonned :v
But that just my opinion :D If you still want to experiment with the intervals, keep in mind that renshuu's interval will still be fixed interval (and that won't affect your easy term problem but you could maybe a set up to mitigate that). 頑張ってね
