Forums - Ability to Bookmark / highlight content in Text Analyzer

When importing and reading extra long content (that extends beyond one sitting) it is very painful to find the last spot to continue reading.

1. Can we add a simple 'Bookmark' feature that would let you mark (or maybe auto-mark the last hovered word). It could appear to the left of a line that has selected text, or somewhere else that makes sense. Perhaps an empty bookmark icon that appears when hovering to the left of any line. Only one should be able to be set per document at a time. There should be some minimum character / line count before it shows up. (less than a page could still be a use-case)

1a. If a bookmark is set, show a "Jump to Bookmark" button at the top of the page.

2. Can we add a "Highlight" feature, that would effectively let people mark important sections, so they could revisit or re-review later. This would persist visually, on an arbitrary block of selected text. Multiple highlights could be made to a document.

Sorry - I saw this back when it was posted, but did not want to respond to it until I could actually react to it, and that time never actually came.

I do intend to work on the custom def feature (other thread), but this one is a bit more difficult.

1. I would not want to do anything that requires hovering, and I'm not crazy about long press actions in the app (the overwhelming majority of users are on mobile devices).

2. Actually, it feels like both of these features are desktop (mouse) focused. I do not believe that anywhere else in the app supports anything other than a press (say, a long press), and I'm not keen on introducing that mechanic on this one page.

Between the two, if we can get past this, I think the bookmark is more doable (but perhaps just recalling where you are, then returning you to that point next time (this would be page, not line) is a good start?

The UX with handling a stretch of text is not the best when it comes to webpages, not without significant (I feel) complications in implementation.

I could see this being automated by default, maybe with a manual override (or based on preference).

If auto, track first character position in the doc on the first line visible on page, the last time a document was viewed. This could be retriggered to update on scroll + a timer (to reduce writes). I also wouldn't mind this initially being stored in local storage, rather than on the server.

When revisiting a doc, it could have a button "Return to page 4" or similar. Many media players have this to continue playing a video from last point.

I believe page renders are currently consistent across mobile + web, so jumping to a specific spot should work fine. Could add a small indicator / background on that character position.

If manually, maybe a bookmark page option? Feels much less user friendly though, as it would be easy to forget.

Docs with only one page or less than some character threshold could just not have bookmarks.
