My schedule is such that I usually have between 3 to 10 kanji to review each day. But the last several days it has been showing like 50 or so. But when I complete my review of 10 (max per my schedule), the kanji to review number is back to zero. I have not changed my settings. I'm using Orion browser on MacOS Tahoe. How can I fix this? Thanks.
Something may have changed in the way terms to review are reported. I think Michael was tinkering with it for the grammar schedules. It’s not clear that you need to fix anything, but if you want, you could remove the limit for the max terms to review. Ten seems unrealistically low to me anyway.
If the "kanji reading filter" is "Kanji readings to include in your quizzes" then it was set to Don't use new system. I chnaged it to rwnshuu recommended.
renshuu recommended is still a decent number of readings, and there is possibly going to be a bit of a hump to get over before it calms down.
If you tap the name of the schedule to see the summary, you can see the expected number of terms to be added (as reviews) over the next several days. How do those look to you?

If it continues with some days being 26 or 40, I think it will be difficult to reduce the backlog. Is there any way I can zero out the kanji to review without losing my progress up to now?
Not..really - in the sense that you cannot really "wipe out" reviews (unless the term is blocked) - you can only schedule them some other time. So moving them out from "now" would take the same number of terms and dump them somewhere else for you to "run into"

I have found a solution of sorts. I have set the Pace to review only, the New terms per quiz to zero and Daily study goal to five. I think this will let me work off the backlog and when that is gone I can decide where to go from there. I'm just an old retired guy living in Japan and have no goal of mastering kanji. Just want to learn some more to make my life easier. BTW I want to thank you for renshuu. I spent a few years fighting with Wani Kani and really appreciate your approach. Much better for my way of studying.
