Is there a way to import words from Anki? I have over 2,500 cards that I want to move into a list in Renshuu so I can see which ones I already have when looking up new words.
i havent done this (only done in other direction), but what i'd do is export from anki to a csv (actualy i think it's tab separated file), then parse that into just term carriage return term carriage return like that (u can use whatever tool u want like sed or even python or something) and then copy that list of just the words no definition into the word list/lookup importer screen here on renshuu and you're done
then under one of ur custom lists in renshuu theres box on left for adding terms called Search for Words and just paste in the list of terms and you're finished.
just so you know, i dont think you cant import custom things like custom definitions or anything like that. the words need to correspond to with words here in renshuu's dictionary, i think. idk how mass importation works with telling u if there are missing words. like idk if it fails silently or says like "the following 15 terms were not found in renshuu's dictionary and therefore have been excluded from import".
You can dump them and import into a list or schedule - the main issue is that there is no universal list of ids that can be used to reliably match words from one system to another, especially if it's a "neutral" source like anki. So if you, for example, have a card that says こと on it, there are several possible entries in the dictionary, even if you restrict it just to the more common ones.
So while I *would* like to add more import tools (we have one for wanikani) to renshuu, with most of them, there is still going to need to have a human in the loop to verify many of the matches when there is not a specific entry that we can reliably say is the same one.
I tried copying and pasting a list of just regular vocabulary words into the “add terms individually” area, but only about 600 of the 2.5k words I pasted were added when I selected “add all without duplicates.” I tried the “add all” button instead, but there were still only about 1.8k added. I even tried copying and pasting the words by sections instead, ~500 at a time, but I still got the same results. I don’t know if it’s something wrong with my list of words or something else.
I do not recall the actual number, but there is a hard cap for dumping words into that search box. You should (and if you cannot, I'd love to hear more about it) be able to *Save* any number of terms at once, but in the searching/adding, it is limited so that it doesn't take too long to process.

I was able to save all of the words I had added, but the problem lied in the adding of the cards. I’ll try it once more later and let you know if it works out.
I tried adding only 30 cards at a time, but I still only got 12 of them added at once. I’m still able to manually add the rest, but I’d rather not do that over two thousand more times. It’s my defeat
If you can get me a set of steps + data to recreate the issue, I'd love to take a crack at it
What I did was entirely on my laptop. I exported my Anki vocab deck as a plain text file, imported it back into Anki without adding any of the other fields (so just the vocab without readings/definitions), exported that file as a plain text file, then opened the text file and copy+pasted the word list directly into the “add terms individually” area in a new list. As for the data you asked for, I’m unsure as to how I should go about that. I think any Anki deck with normal vocab (just the word itself (e.g. 食べる)) in an isolated field should work.
Well, the issue is not happening with others (at least, not others that I know of), so there is *something* specific to the steps you are taking and/or (most like AND) the exact set of data that you're using. So that'll be required to get it to happen on my end. Or it could be, someone, something specific to your account.

If it isn’t happening to other people, then I don’t really care much about it anymore. Getting those terms into a list here on Renshuu would have been a minor convenience to me at best, so I’d rather not waste any more time on it than I already have. Thank you for trying to help, though!
I mean, it could be! this is common across all programs - most people simply don't report bugs (for whatever reason). So it could be that there are 100s of others thinking "this is frustrating", but they just deal with it.

Thank you for respecting my own time. I’d love to help more, but I feel as if I’ve done all I can on my end to try and figure out what was going on. Maybe my deck or way of exporting was just weird—I don’t know.
As someone who just found this thread trying to do the same thing (from jiten.moe and not anki, but I can get the same sort of export), if you have a pro account and thus access to the full breadth of the text analyzer, this seems to work pretty well by just shoving the one-word-per-line text file into the analyzer. The number isn't exactly the same, but it's close, and I'm assuming that's minor differences around things like splitting compound verbs into their parts (or not).
