hi!! everyone kao_great.png

So, I was watching a video on no possessive particle and when Michael said now use the AisB that sentence with desu . Then he said that we all know that nobody use (this type of grammar ) that now.

So, I was just curious that what do we use in the practical life . and like when we will be taught that . is it like that in a particular lesson we will be told that or what ?

pls explain me .kao_sparkle.pngkao_shiawase.png

I'm not sure what you're talking about exactly (and couldn't find the exact moment when マイコー said that) but from the content of the lesson, I guess it was probably about dropping part of the sentences?

For example, I almost never say 名前 シャム です.

I almost always say シャム です or はい、シャム です, etc.

Then a few things like よろしくお願いします, etc.

It's not something that is really taught because it's too variable? There is no particular rule.
Like, most of the time, everyone introduce themselves or I have a friend who introduce me and it's obvious that it's about me. So I don't need and since it's also obvious that I will start with my name, I only シャムです.

But don't worry too much, as soon as you start talking with some japanese or as soon as you start to watch some video where people introduce themselves, you will notice that kind of things. Especially for greetings. There are some pattern that are very common. And for the rest, well, it's about having enough experience with the language =p

I was asking this just out of curiosity. And maybe I could have misinterpreted it. kao_worry.png

Ah sorry x)

名前 シャム です -> watashi no namae ha shamu desu (my name is shamu)*

*は, ha is pronounced "wa" here.

シャム です -> Shamu desu (I'm shamu)
はい、シャム です -> hai, Shamu desu (Yes, I'm Shamu)

よろしく お願い します -> yoroshiku onegai shimasu (Nice to meet you/Let's get along from now on)

"I was asking this just out of curiosity. And maybe I could have misinterpreted it."
And you were right to do that, please don't worry about it. But it's just that I don't know what you're talking about specifically. Next time, if you could give a timestamp and a link to the video, it would help =p
Also, you can click on each of the blue word and it will redirect you to the dictionary just in case you didn't know. You can even found expression directly in some case like for よろしくお願いします (I gave both link this, the different words and the complete expression).
Tell if you have other questions or something you didn't understood
