The past couple days I've had an odd combination of issues. Not really severe or important issues but I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue/knows what's causing it. Im wondering if its something in my settings or an update I managed to miss.
So, I mainly use renshuu on my Samsung tablet, and I usually leave the app open in the background when using other apps so I can easily go back to it. Lately when I do that it's been completely frozen when i come back so I restart the app. But when I restart the app it freezes on the loading screen for a long time and when I get in the fonts are all wrong. I've checked my settings and it's set to the one i want but unless I manually save that setting again it won't use that font even though it's selected. (Which is honesty helpful at first because I realized I can't read any other font except the one i was using so I might start switching it up a bit sometimes, lol)
when the app freezes on my tablet, I often check my computer or phone to see if it loads there and it's frozen too. They all load at the same time after a few minutes usually.
Is there any way to fix the font issue and does anyone know why the connection is lagging like that? I'm in Australia If that matters with server connections or anything. Also sorry if this is formatted or worded poorly, I'm attempting to type on my phone and its very hard, lol. Thanks!
Not Australia, exactly, but there have been some connection issues for other SE Asia users - it's always some network between the user and renshuu that is getting in the way, not renshuu's servers themselves :(
I'd like to see if this continues over the next few days.
If you are a bit more technically inclined, I can suggest things you can run to see if there is indeed congestion on the way there.
Also, try going into menu > settings > experimental, and switch to the Global server if you have not yet already.
Thank you, I do already have global server turned on in the settings. If it helps at all I just noticed that, at least on my devices, Renshuu loads a lot faster when I turn off my WIFI and use mobile data only. I was able to load the app 3 times in a row quite fast running on data, but on WIFI it's still loading on my phone and already taken double the time it took to load the app 3 times on data. Aside from using global servers and just using mobile data, is there anything else I could try?
If switching your connection is changing things, then it more or less confirms that the issue is in the "hops" from your device to renshuu's network. Mobile/Wifi are going to jump along different servers to get to renshuu, and if one of them is passing through a congested or misconfigured server, you'll see exactly what is coming up for you.
If you still feel that it is tied to the app itself, you can try this: go to your browser of choice, and access the same user account via renshuu.org (the website). If Wifi works well on the website, then I suppose it could be an issue in the app (although it's really hard to think of what it could be, as the app code is extremely minimal, and there is nothing that deals with different connection types.
