There seems to be a lot of grammar points missing from the Renshuu-provided Genki mastery schedules. For example, Genki 1 lesson 1 is missing AはBです, and Genki 1 lesson 11 is missing ~だけ. Note that ~だけ appears in the vocab list and expression notes of lesson 11 in the textbook, but not in the main body of the chapter. I haven't checked, but these likely aren't the only examples.
I was just wondering, are there plans to add in the missing grammar points, or were they left out intentionally?
They were not intentionally left out - it's more than likely something I was never able to get to updating for the new revision of the textbook (the vocab was updated, but I do not recall doing so for the grammar).
This is naturally not something required of you, but if you want to keep track of the grammar missing, I can add it as you come across it!
I went ahead and added in the two that you mentioned!
Thank you! I'm about to start Genki 2, so I'll definitely keep a lookout there. For Genki 1, I might take a look at some point. I was gonna make lists of my own, but haven't felt up to it. If I do, I'll let you know, though. Should I post my findings here, or send you a DM?
I found a few things missing for Genki 2 - 3rd edition chapter 13. I'm not sure if these are in the 2nd edition:
- ことができる is missing. This was mentioned inside the section on potential verbs
- Potential verbs 2 is not in the mastery schedule, but I'm not sure if it should be. It's hard for me to tell the difference between potential verbs 1 and 2.
- The expression notes at the end of the lesson mention turning adjectives into adverbs, like 楽しい into 楽しく. I didn't see a grammar dictionary entry for turning adjectives into adverbs, but if one exists, it should be included in lesson 13.
The expression notes mention these words, meaning "to play an instrument" for various types of instruments:
- 弾く stringed and keyboard instruments
- 吹く wind instrument
- たたく percussion instrument
- やる / できる instruments in general
These could be considered optional vocabulary, so I'm not sure whether they should be included in the vocab mastery schedule.
Thanks - I do not have a specific "3rd edition" for grammar yet - it's simply slipped by me over the years. These may be ones you'll want to add in individually to your own schedule for now :(
As to the adverbs - I do not have a specific lesson/entry for that. It is covered in other lessons (for example, なる・する), but not as an explicit, standalone entry.
Ah, okay. In that case, I will go ahead and add them myself. I'll probably make my own lists, and if you want to use them as a base for a future 3rd edition grammar schedule, please do!
