As of today (October 15th, 2025), our new Grammar/Word schedule pack for the JLPT N3 (Intermediate) is available for all users.
1. Each of the 55 grammar lists in the schedule will be preceded by one of the newly completed (written) grammar lessons, written by a Japanese teacher specifically for renshuu.
2. The number of words in the N3 pack has expanded to 2,496 words. This is roughly 900 more words than our previous lists. While our previous lists were slightly on the lean side, we believe that you are better to be over-prepared for the JLPT exams (if you take them), and the JLPT lists that float around on the internet often leave out a significant number of everyday terms. All the new words have been pulled from frequently used word lists or from Japanese example sentences written by a native Japanese teacher for renshuu's Intermediate/N3 level.
1. While the older lists are still available, the default for all users adding Intermediate materials will be these new schedules.
2. Your old schedules will not be automatically removed or converted to the new schedules. We'll leave that decision up to you.
While it's up to you, I strongly recommend switching. Because the new written lessons are lined up with the new schedules, it will make the most sense to learn the new grammar in each lesson then have the grammar grouped together for you to practice. The word lists are also arranged to best support your grammar learning.
1. Go to Manage your Schedules (accessible from the Dashboard)
2. Check both the grammar and word schedules for Intermediate/N3, and remove them. This will NOT remove any mastery/study data.
3. Switch over to All Schedules (on the same Manage page)
4. Under renshuu recommended > Intermediate, tap the + button next to the "Intermediate Japanese" schedule pack.
With this, you're ready to go! Remember, each vocabulary lesson will include (among others) all words that appear in the grammar exercises, so it is always best to clear out all new vocabulary before learning the grammar.
If you have any questions feel free to leave them here.

Not sure what this means. Maybe there’s a typo?
This would be much easier if you add links to those pages in the explainer.
It would also be nice to persist completion streak data when creating the new schedule, based on the one being replaced.
So I followed the instructions, and I just checked the new intermediate grammar schedule. As far as I can tell there seems to be only 24 terms in this schedule, whereas I was expecting around 200. Am I doing it wrong? Also the intermediate words schedule is showing 403 terms, whereas I was expecting upwards of 1,500.
Edit: the number of terms in the grammar schedule seems to rise as I do the quizzes, so I guess it means it's the number of terms so far studied rather than the number of all the terms.
It wasn't until I looked but I was apparently almost done with both intermediate words and grammar (98 and 95 percent complete). Is it worth me migrating these now?

Are you actually planning to take the JLPT N3 exam?
They're not broken - unlike the old schedule, these schedules are the same style as the n5/n4 ones: they let out one lesson of materials at a time (since the vocab and grammar are linked up), and when you clear out the new materials, you can move onto the next lesson.
That being said, if you're at 95/98%, I wouldn't say these schedules are overly necessary for you. Move onto N2 :)
This is very exciting, I'm currently studying N3 and have been looking forward to these tied in lessons and changes for a while. Thank you so much! Just migrated over to the new schedules and everything seems to work perfectly! 👍
Thrilled to see the updated N3 course live!
In my case, I see the 50% completion on the Intermediate Japanese pack (had 100% and 90% on the old vocab and grammar schedules) and 100% & 99% respectively on the kanji and sentences. If this information is useful to someone.
So, I guess there is a long way of practice ahead :)
マイコーさん、どうもありがとうございます!
これからもよろしくお願いします!
First of all, thank you so much for your hard work. I will take the N3 exam this December so this couldn't come up at a better time.
I tend to study several "blocks" of the vocabulary deck, and then move on to studying several blocks/lessons of the grammar deck. I don't really count the numbers of blocks I do for each deck. Therefore, I was wondering if there was an automatic "limitation" or "regulation" of the grammar deck based on the vocabulary progress; in other-words, do grammar lessons become accessible based on the studied vocabulary blocks, or could all of the grammar lessons technically be done without studying all of the vocabulary blocks first?
Thank you very much in advance! Love from France & Switzerland
