Hey guys,
I'm using Renshuu mostly for grammar and joyo kanji study at the moment. I use an anki deck for vocab. So far I like using different platforms, it keeps things from getting stale. I'm new to Japanese with about two months of solid daily study so far.
Anyway, I'm wondering what you think the best grammar schedules to follow on Renshuu would be for a beginner?
Should I use the Renshuu recommended ones? Genki? Others? Any substantial differences between them?
If you don’t have a specific set of grammar points that you want to learn, or if you don’t have a textbook to follow along with, then I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t just use the Renshuu recommended ones. As long as you go through the whole thing, it’s gonna teach you all the same stuff, maybe just in a slightly different order. So yes, I recommend just sticking with the renshuu lists if you don’t have a textbook.
Thanks for the guidance! That's the way I was leaning but just wanted to get some other opinions. You're right, grammar is grammar and you're eventually gonna learn what sounds natural/makes sense no matter which resource you use.
Up to you and you can always change later
I first used the basic grammar schedules for 6 month and stop to study grammar with schedules later. I even stop to study grammar at all for 8 month and just study sentences then imitate those sentences. And now I'm studying grammar only in japanese. So you're not stuck with anything.
It's good to stick with one method/ressources to not be overhelm at the beginning but later, it's more like a free for all. A bit for the same reason, you're using different platforms =p
I'm not on the JLPT route myself. I'm going by the order through Renshuu and just organizing my schedules individually through that. I haven't really established any particular order yet but through that.
That being said, if you're using Genki and/or other books that have schedules, use that if you like. They're gonna be based on the sets that's in the books. I don't think I've ever seen anything that truly follows the same basic content in order, just like some of my other resources. That's basically one of the differences between each other, apart from teaching styles. They'll more or less collectively have the same basic information though.
