shaders like complementary/BSL can be super demanding. Even with Iris and Sodium (which help a lot), if the base performance isn't great, shaders will still lag.
- Performance Issues : Low RAM or VRAM – Minecraft (especially modded with shaders) needs at least 8GB of RAM and a decent GPU.
- Background programs – Stuff running in the background can eat up your CPU and RAM.
- Old drivers – Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date (especially if you’re using Iris/Sodium with shaders).
And the leaf block you said thats actually a setting in the shader!
- In Complementary, blocky-looking leaves (with no gaps) can happen if the “Leaf Transparency” or “Fancy Leaves” setting is turned off.
Fix Tips:
Lower your render distance (try 6-8 chunks).
Set Graphics to fast instead of fancy if shaders are off..
Allocate more RAM in the Minecraft launcher (careful though, not too much if your PC is limited).
Use Complementary Reimagined Lite or Performance profiles in the shader options.
Turn off “Volumetric Lighting” and “Bloom” in the shader settings — those eat FPS.

Btw it maybe a good idea to ask your dad to take a look - he might help check background stuff or clean up the PC a bit too, which can help general lag.

To improve your Minecraft experience with shaders, here are a few mods that can make the game run smoother or look even better:
Sodium: This mod optimizes rendering performance and makes Minecraft run smoother with shaders, especially on lower-end systems.
Phosphor: A lighting optimization mod, useful when using shaders to make performance better.
Lithium: A performance optimization mod that helps improve Minecraft’s internal mechanics.
Tweakeroo: A mod that lets you tweak different visual and gameplay aspects of the game to get the most out of your shaders.

BSL is actually known for being great, even on low-end computers! But I have no personal experience

I meant that it is famous for being not very demanding on lower-end PCs. Sorry if I was being confusing! kao_sorry.png

I hear complimentary is EXTREMELY demanding though
