That would also give the son another reason to hate his father
Was my brainstorming helpful KirbBoi?
Without context Inkheart's story sounds pretty dark...
Idk I feel like that's even more confusing
Also something I've been wondering this whole time is, why did the mom try to use an ability to make him falsely fall in love with her? Did she actually care about him or did she have some ulterior motive? If she had an ulterior motive then why did him tell him about the ability? Even if she didn't have an ulterior motive (which I feel she practically had to have, unless she was just stupid), why did she tell him?

I think it was always dark
Without context Inkheart's story sounds pretty dark...
Yeah I guess it I first came up with the concept while listening to some depressing NF songs so the mood of the story definitely reflects that

It was! Thanks!
Ink, do you have any ideas as well?
Your story is looking good, btw!

Thanks Kirb! I read through all the stuff you have so far and it's looking great! I'm terrible at coming up with ideas on the spot, but I will definitely keep thinking about this throughout the day and let you know if I can brainstorm anything that might be helpful
Thanks!
Oh yeah I don't remember if I've already asked this question or not but is the son mad at his mom for putting him in this terrible situation? I need to know
Well I'm pretty sure the mom died before the son was even old enough remember her, and I think he would be mad at his dad more than anything because his dad was the reason that he never got to know what his mom was like
Sorry, i feel like that was a very confusing way of explaining things my brain isn't very good at describing what it's thinking at the moment
Does he know anything about his mom or does he just know his dad killed her (also seriously the mom needs to have a motive this is an extremely important un-overlookable detail)
Thoughts aren't ever completely translatable, so the best you can do is an explanation of what your thought was like.
Isn't love motive enough?
I feel like the mom might have written some letters or something that the kid could find later on and get an idea of what she was like through them the dad would probably refuse to talk about the subject with his son because he doesn't have a way to justify his actions
Yeah I'm struggling with the motives of the parents for the dad, he's not shallow enough to seek fame or money. I think his personal goal is to create his own little empire of loyal followers where no one can question his authority or leadership ability (I could go into a lot more detail on that but it would be more typing than I'm up for at the moment
) As for the mom's motive, I have no idea, pls help me out guys

Isn't love motive enough? You have a point she could have just loved him for who he was, but considering how terrible he was, I don't see how anyone could ever love him for that
But if she loved him would she really use her ability like that
Wait I have some ideas I'm going to write them in a minute
She might have wanted his resources for some reason maybe she or someone she knew was in danger and she needed his warrior's abilities to ensure her safety
Yes Row thank you so much
Love is not a rational emotion, so if the mother has some obsessive tendencies and the father has at least one eye-catching quality, then it's plausible. I've read quite a few stories with fae characters that loved differently than humans do, and they were all very believable and interesting. Something along that theme may be appropriate here.
