Neither do I because, not being Japanese, I don't have much exposure to Japanese music from before the 2000s or 2010s outside of anime intros kao_sleep.png

I still need help with that water temple I'm hoping to make for D&D. Any ideas?

In the campaign, there is an alternate dimension called the Peripheral that the party can access using moonpools, which are magic bodies of water. The Peripheral is acts kinda like a dark world (except it is very colorful) where actions in one dimension affect the other.

It sounds interesting, and putting together campaign yourself is impressive.kao_sparkles.png As for thoughts, what kind of ideas are you looking for?kao_think.png It sounds to me that you have the hardest parts figured out. kao_guts.png

I need help making a gimmick for the water temple.

Are the functions of the Peripheral dimension already laid out? Perhaps some fundamental laws of reality can function differently there. Maybe even changing the way characters interact with the world completely. As for a gimmick for a temple, what kind of place are you going for? So far it sounds like you want strange puzzles reminiscent of the movie Labyrinth. Will the temple have creatures or traps? Custom monsters maybe? I really can't help with ideas if I don't know the direction you're taking the location. Is the temple abandoned or inhabited? What god or gods do they worship? Do you have a general layout in mind?kao_think.png

The functions are already laid out. The function is kinda similar to the upside down, but less creepy. The temple was made to keep a dragon content so he wouldn't flood the world. It would have custom creatures AND traps. It is well furnished, but seemingly nobody lives there.

I have no layout in mind, but it's based on japanese castles

Hmm... Very interesting... It seems to me you've got it mostly figured out, and now you're looking for implementation ideas.kao_think.png Perhaps the gimmick could be that the Peripheral monsters are a more fluid or conceptual version of the ones present in the temple? If the colors are brighter but shapes are less defined, as the name suggests, perhaps important details have more pronounced colors in the Peripheral to nudge players into solving puzzles. Maybe the gimmick you're looking for is puzzles that have pieces on both planes, or required items hidden in the Peripheral.kao_think.png

I was thinking a dungeon-wide puzzle that utilizes both the Peripheral and the water (cuz water temple).

Also having visuals like color and whatnot is very hard cuz it's D&D

Perhaps the characters have to collect different kinds of water in specific quantities, with hints towards that goal hidden throughout the temple. The biggest clue in that kind of scenario would be the last room where everything is supposed to go once collected. Perhaps the different kinds of water could have different properties, so they're also valuable to the players.

Interesting kao_think.png

I was thinking of a puzzle where you change the water level, but the water is a moonpools so moving thru it swaps dimensions. So you fill some rooms to turn them into the peripheral

I like that idea, so the players would have to move stationary elements of the rooms into another dimension to reach their goal. What is the party's goal by the way?

They are trying to find a Dragon in there.

They don't really know why cuz they talked over the NPC when he was loredumping, so they are just kinda going with it! kao_shiawase.png

Classic party shenanigans, ignoring all the DM's meticulously made lore.kao_shiawase.png With such a gung ho group, it's probably best to make your puzzles pretty obvious, so they don't get confused because they ignored all the carefully laid clues.neko_laugh.png Might be best to have thematic sections of the temple, each with one required puzzle piece.kao_think.png To motivate their participation in your puzzles, make sure to reward correct solutions and punish incorrect ones, however you see fit. Maybe even make a table of random consequences to keep them on their toes, or even danger levels represented by rising water. If you do that, then you can make a certain number of mistakes a requirement for total completition, using the moonpools idea you had. Might be best to prepare something simple that you like but be prepared for the adventures to try anything, like climbing outside buildings or even breaking down walls. Never underestimate the party's ability to derail your plans.kao_think.png

Hello everyone kao_drink.png

My friend had an amazing idea last night that makes the whole immunity problem a lot more logical. Basically the dad already possessed immunity and his love for his wife was actually real, meaning that he killed her hastily and later realized that he was immune to her and her son's ability all along. I'm still not exactly sure how immunity works, but I definitely think that the father (and possibly his siblings, if he has any) should be the only one capable of immunity
