In jpdb.io you can see how many words of each book/anime you know. It’s a great feature IMO and the main reason I’m still using jpdb for words over Renshuu. Since I’m new to Renshuu I wanted to ask if maybe Renshuu too has something similar.
It does not - it's a bit outside of the scope of what renshuu does, and jmdb does such a good job of it - I'd rather focus on what renshuu is good at than try and (fail) do what they've already done :)
You can compare yourself against any list you find in community lists. You can also create lists for anything you are reading by uploading it to the text analyzer (pro feature).

alternatively, would it be possible to show completion level of a community list instead of mastery level? The average mastery level is not so informative for me as I'm not aiming to complete all terms to level 9. It would be more informative for me to know how many words i know vs not know/never studied. I see a schedule as "completed" once I've emptied all the new words and then keep reviewing/merging it.
Schedules show studied/ unstudied counts if you click on them.
If you want to check on a list not in a schedule you can use the Advanced Search tool. Add the terms of the list, then Filter on studied/not studied.

Yeah but you have to calculate percentage then, I'm already doing this as a workaround for my personal study blog stats, but this was just my suggestion since the mastery level number is basically useless for me
You can use the Text Analyzer for this, if you have access to the text from a piece of media yourself. Just drop in a subtitle file, copy in an ebook chapter, etc. and it will give you a breakdown of how much you know for words/kanji/grammar. If you have Renshuu Pro, you can also easily make lists to study out of the text.
Not OP but thanks to the above two commenters for mentioning the Text Analyzer. I just played around with some song lyrics I dropped in the Text Analyzer, while listening to the song. I can see that tool is going to be very useful.
