Found a small issue on my approval page where a significant number of comments were hidden in limbo, approving them now.
Also, wondering if questions should be ordered so older ones appear first...there is enough coming in each day that the "landing" page will always have the newest ones, and some questions might slip back and never get answered.
After using the new widget in the Community tab for a bit, some feedback:
- A way to find my answers would be nice, say in the My Writing page.
- A way to filter out the comments that aren't questions would be nice.
- A search function would be great for users to find answers to their questions that may be hidden somewhere in a sentence.
- Sorting questions by likes so that the most "urgent" questions can be answered quicker?
- The reply button could be in a better place, sometimes I end up accidentally making a top-level comment on the sentence instead of replying to the question.
Also, a bug perhaps? Every now and then submitting the reply freezes up and I have to refresh and do it again. Seems to be the case in the sentences dictionary as well, not just the widget.
1. Finding your own answers would be good, possibly in the future
2. I just adjusted the system to better filter questions up to the top. I also plan to add filters so you can completely remove, for example, alternate translations.
3. I'm curious about this - can you think of some sample questions that you could think of that someone might want to search on?
4. I'm still tinkering with the ordering of results, and while it is defaulted to oldest first, I may mix hearts into it. I do feel that once this feature is adopted more, there probably will not be much in the way of a backlog of questions, so this *may* be moot.
5. I have seen the bug you speak of, but I cannot replicate it yet. If you happen to be on a desktop browser and are comfortable with the web inspector, I'm curious as to if the form data is getting sent out correctly. If you ever find a reliable way to replicate it, please let me know.
> Can you think of some sample questions that you could think of that someone might want to search on?
Rather than fully formed questions, it might be more just regular ol keyword search. Say someone wants to know more about the passive, they can search "passive" in not just the forums but also the discussions on sentences, and maybe the grammar pages too. But also say, searching for a discussion if you forget which sentence it was under.

A pattern that I see repeatedly is users asking questions about a quiz question in which the sentence was used. These questions can’t generally be addressed by looking at the sentence. Perhaps the sentence discussion button should be less prominent in quizzes, or perhaps not appear at all.
It's in there, sorry, forgot to mention it. Tap the settings/filters to see it.
I do not think it should be hidden in quizzes, though - these are most likely the most in-depth look into sentences that users will get, so they'll naturally have questions there.
After continuing to look at the style of questions that come up, I can better adjust the text on the form, or even add a way to easily grab the sentence data from the quiz. We already have the "right" answer (the sentence itself), so maybe a way to easily grab the user's answer.
I don’t think it is working correctly though. At least, it seems to interact poorly with the other filters. I still see lots of things marked alternate translation. Not all of them are, to be sure, but they already have responses.
That's something I'm thinking about. What it's doing now is grabbing any kind of comment, when it most likely should focus only on parent comments when considering the type.
Unrelated, but you (ポール) have noted several instances where a question went up, someone replied, then the original question was removed. I'm wondering if, in those cases, the child comments should be automatically hidden.
Now, there are some unavoidable cases when, for example, someone responds to someone else without using the reply button, as their "reply" will appear as top-level, and will be considered a comment without an answer.
