I did a bit of Google research, in terms of global popularity yes K-pop is more widely adopted.
I think each has its own charm. I mean K-pop usually have girlgroups or boygroups, which heavily invested in singing and dancing (i.e those Blackpink and BTS). Sometimes K-pop use other languages too: English is always there, some groups have Japan version(s) songs, some even use Spanish/France.
Meanwhile J-pop is kinda "contained" in Japan and more common concepts are bands (anybody know official Higendaism, one ok rock, etc ?) or just pure vocals, such as Yoasobi.
I don't know if Jpop idols also have Korean version(s) of their songs.
Since I'm not that into anime nowadays maybe I don't know much about J-pop.
